The Things That Really Matter in Business in New Zealand Right Now – #2 Leadership

Wondering what the most important thing is for New Zealand Businesses to do right now
Two weeks ago we covered off Number 1 – Cashflow.  And as promised, to meet my pledge of “what can I do to get this economy of ours growing, and so do my bit in making just a teeny bit of progress?” Number 2 – Leadership.
This is a topic close to my heart.  I could rave and rant for some time, but I won’t!  Let me be as brief and as succinct as I can:

“Leadership Effectiveness is THE Primary Contributor to Business Performance.”

“The data shows, if you can improve Leadership Effectiveness, you have a 37% probability of seeing that improvement translate into higher business performance.”
“Mastering Leadership”  Anderson & Adams (2016)

“Leadership Effectiveness is both Rare and Misunderstood.  If we all start the journey to Mastery today, and spend 60 minutes a week on it, the Payoff to ourselves, and our businesses, will be immeasurable”

“On thinking whilst looking in the mirror” Pickford et al (2025) I Jest!

Don’t get me wrong.  This is not a Sales Blog – well not entirely anyway.  I’m not attempting to drum up business – that’s not my prime motivation here (it’s the secondary one!)  What I am trying to do is get across the message, in no uncertain terms, that Leadership Effectiveness is central to succeeding in business.  And if you are not working on it in some way – reading, learning, practicing, thinking – you are not taking the small steps that will end up making a massive difference.  Both to you, and your business.

I could start to list all the skills and competencies that you could learn, practice and improve, but that’s not the intent here, and it’s not what works when talking about Leadership Development.  It’s more about you and how you can watch, think, try, think, read, think, try,  ….think …..think……  You get the idea!

If you want some direction watch this on You Tube – it will partially explain what I am getting at here.

Keep focused and think about how you can become a Conscious Leader.

Cheers
